Gather in New York City on August 7 for the AV/IT Conference
The AV/IT Summit, held on August 7 at Convene at One Liberty Plaza in Lower Manhattan, brought together industry leaders and professionals to discuss the current state and future of audiovisual (AV) technology. The event, which was met with great interest, offered a comprehensive day of panel discussions, networking opportunities, and manufacturer visits.
The day began with an interactive session led by Cindy Davis and Mark J. Pescatore, addressing common day-to-day pain points in the AV/IT industry. These challenges, which were further explored throughout the day, include:
1. Cybersecurity vulnerabilities and threats: With the increasing adoption of AV-over-IP systems, end-users and integrators face risks of cyberattacks, such as credential theft and unauthorized network access. Managing secure, unique passwords and central control of segregated AV networks are critical challenges.
2. Credential and access management: Password reuse, shared devices in meeting rooms or classrooms, and the use of PINs increase vulnerability. Secure ways to authenticate and limit exposure to malware and keyloggers are ongoing concerns.
3. Integrating flexible, user-friendly technology: Especially in education and corporate environments, there is a strong demand for solutions that support easy switching and compatibility without locking users into proprietary ecosystems.
4. Collaboration and connectivity issues: The growing complexity of AV/IT networks and cloud-based hybrid collaboration tools present integration and management challenges for end-users and integrators, especially in ensuring seamless user experiences and secure operations.
5. Understanding new technologies: There is uncertainty about how to utilize emerging tools such as virtual production studios effectively within enterprises and campuses, indicating a need for education and practical guidance.
These points were emphasized through panel discussions and networking sessions, offering a platform for industry experts to address day-to-day challenges and cybersecurity realities in modern AV/IT networks.
Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to engage in discussions, visit with manufacturers, and network with peers and panelists. Mathew Newfield, president and chief commercial officer of Diversified, delivered the keynote on the topic of cybersecurity in modern AV/IT networks. A panel discussion on how virtual production studios are enhancing brands and engaging audiences was scheduled for 11:00 a.m., followed by a NYC coffee break at 10:30 a.m. for further networking and project discussions with manufacturers.
The event offered four AVIXA RUs for CTS, and the closing reception began at 3:30 p.m., providing an opportunity to discuss the day's highlights with peers, panelists, and sponsors. Attendees were encouraged to reserve their complimentary spot, as seating was limited and running out.
