German Companies Shun X Under Musk, Citing Social Division Concerns

A survey reveals a significant shift in German companies' use of the social media platform X. Since Elon Musk's takeover, companies are posting less and expressing concerns about the platform's impact on society.

The study shows that 51% of companies are now posting fewer or no paid ads on X, a substantial increase from 26% in 2023. This trend is accompanied by a decrease in organic content, with 58% of companies posting fewer or no contributions since Musk's takeover.

Companies' perceptions of X have also shifted. 80% now believe the platform is accelerating social division, up from 52% in 2023. This sentiment is reflected in the demand for stronger control of X, with 85% of companies calling for it, up from 74% in 2023. Meanwhile, only 21% of companies find that Elon Musk is strengthening freedom of expression on the platform.

The decrease in companies' engagement with X is evident in the usage statistics. Only 27% of German companies still use X, down from 32% in October 2023. However, the desire to leave the platform is not immediate, with only 11% of companies planning to delete their X profile in the near future.

The survey indicates a clear trend of German companies reducing their activity on X and expressing concerns about its impact on society. While the majority still do not plan to delete their profiles, the decrease in usage and the demand for stronger control suggest a growing unease with the platform under Musk's leadership.
