German Customs Seize €1M in Drugs After Sophisticated Motorway Bust

Customs officers in Germany have made a significant drug bust at the Siegburg rest area on the A3 motorway. A 39-year-old Serbian man was stopped, and his vehicle was searched due to suspicious behaviour and a positive drug swab test. The inspection revealed a sophisticated hiding place beneath the loading surface of the man's car. Using a cavity detection device, officers discovered approximately 5.5 kilograms of cocaine and over 63 kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated street value of around one million euros. The drugs were concealed in a compartment that could be accessed by swinging the entire floor of the transporter to the side. The Serbian man was temporarily arrested, and the smuggling car was seized. The investigation is being led by the Zollfahndungsamt Essen on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bonn. Once the legal proceedings are complete, the seized drugs will be destroyed. This seizure is part of a larger operation by German customs, with a similar bust occurring on August 6. The investigation into this latest incident is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
