Gojek's GoRide Transit to Revolutionize Indonesian Public Transport
Gojek, the Indonesian ride-hailing giant, has merged with e-commerce platform Tokopedia to form GoTo Group. The company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in April 2022. Now, Gojek is set to revolutionize public transport with its new service, GoRide Transit.
GoRide Transit will connect Gojek's ride-hailing services with trains run by Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI). Users can pay for multimodal trips in one app, making public transport more accessible and affordable. This aligns with the Indonesian government's efforts to reduce air pollution in Jakarta.
Gojek expects this new service to double its consumer base and cut travel time by 15% compared to other modes of transport. The company's chief transport officer, Shobhit Singhal, sees GoRide Transit as a tool to capture more demand and expand the user base. Gojek currently faces competition from Grab, which controls the remaining 50% of Indonesia's ride-hailing transportation market by order volume.
Looking ahead, Gojek is open to expanding the GoRide Transit service to other public transportation providers in other countries. The company has already identified TransJakarta as a potential partner for future collaborations.
Gojek's GoRide Transit is poised to transform public transport in Indonesia. By integrating ride-hailing services with train journeys, Gojek aims to increase its user base and reduce travel times. With plans to expand this service to other countries, Gojek is set to make a significant impact on the global transportation landscape.
