Google Introduces Search Live: Real-Time, Camera-Aware Conversations

Google has introduced a new feature called Search Live, now available in English in the US. This update brings real-time, camera-aware conversations to the Google app on both Android and iOS devices.

Search Live allows users to start a voice conversation and optionally enable video input. This means users can now point their camera at something and ask related questions, getting answers in real-time while engaged in tasks.

Google highlights practical scenarios for this feature, such as hands-free trip planning, quick how-to guidance, step-by-step troubleshooting, support for school projects, and even picking a board game by scanning several boxes at once. Local businesses are advised to keep their storefront photos, product imagery, and key details up-to-date, as people can now point, ask, and get links in real time.

To start an interactive voice conversation with Search Live, users can tap the new Live icon under the search bar or open Google Lens and choose 'Live'. Rajan Patel, VP of Engineering for Search at Google, announced the launch on X. Google plans to expand Search Live to France in the future.

Search Live moves queries from typed text to camera and voice, providing answers while users are actively engaged in tasks. This feature is now available in the US and can be accessed through both the Google app and Google Lens. Google aims to expand this service to more countries in the future.
