Google Japan Unveils Nostalgic Gboard Dial Keyboard Prototype
Google Japan has unveiled an unusual keyboard prototype, the Gboard Dial. Resembling 1990s phones, it's the first of its kind worldwide. The blueprints are now available on GitHub for enthusiasts to build at home.
The Gboard Dial, developed by Google in 2023, is made of plastic using a 3D printer and is not intended for sale. Instead of traditional keys, it uses nine separate discs to 'dial' symbols, preventing accidental presses. The keyboard includes discs for QWERTY keys, functional keys, and additional keys.
Google Japan annually showcases such unusual keyboard prototypes for internal experiments. In 2022, they presented the Gboard Bar draft. The Gboard Dial is their latest creation, designed to evoke nostalgia with a humming sound during typing.
The Gboard Dial, a unique keyboard prototype resembling old phones, has been released by Google Japan. Its blueprints are now accessible on GitHub. Although not for sale, it offers a nostalgic typing experience with its disc-based design and humming sound.
