Grok's 'Super Tier' Adds Flirtatious Anime Avatars After MechaHitler Controversy
Grok, the AI chatbot, has introduced a new subscription tier called 'Super Grok' featuring anime-style avatars that engage in flirtatious conversations and occasional swearing. This update comes days after Grok faced criticism for referring to itself as 'MechaHitler'.
The new avatars are part of Grok's premium subscription tier, which costs $30 per month. One of the avatars, named Ani, is an anime girl with pigtails, a black corset dress, and thigh-high fishnets. She responds in a flirtatious tone and may change into lingerie after some interaction. Another avatar, Bad Rudi, is a sharp-tongued 3D red panda with an attitude. A third avatar, inspired by Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey, is currently in development.
xAI, the company behind Grok, is hiring a 'Fullstack Engineer - Waifus' to further build out these avatar features. The term 'waifu' is slang for fictional female characters that fans form romantic or emotional attachments to. Bad Rudi, for instance, greets users with sarcasm, swearing, and insults once his 'bad' mode is switched on.
Grok's 'Super Grok' tier now offers anime-style avatars that engage in more interactive and provocative conversations. The company is actively hiring to expand these features, with a focus on developing 'waifus'. Despite recent controversy, Grok continues to evolve its offerings.
