Nintendo Switch 2 Preorders Now Live: Here's What You Need to Know
After a series of delays, the preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 are now live in the U.S. and Canada. The much-anticipated console will hit the shelves on June 5, 2025.
The preorder date for both regions was initially set for April 5, 2025, but due to tariff concerns and price reassessment by Nintendo, the U.S. preorders were delayed. The Canadian preorder delay was made to synchronize with the U.S. preorder timing.
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has claimed that there should be enough Switch 2s at launch for everyone.
Preorder Details
Target's Switch 2 preorder page will go live at 12 a.m. ET on April 28. Walmart and Best Buy also have their preorder pages up, and GameStop's Switch 2 preorder page is available for U.S.-based customers, allowing users to input their email for updates. Walmart Canada offers preorder information for the Switch 2, and Nintendo's online store allows U.S.-based customers to preorder the console as well.
For those looking to trade in their old Nintendo Switch, GameStop will only scratch off $100 of the original price for trade-ins, while GameStop is offering up to $175 trade-in towards Switch 2 reservations, with a higher price for a $350 Switch OLED.
Pricing
The base price of the Nintendo Switch 2 is $450. For those interested in the bundle with the launch title Mario Kart World, it costs $500. Best Buy Plus or Total members can get a $20 gift card for every $150 spent on Nintendo products.
