Poseck: Renouncing Palantir Software Would Be a Security Gap - Hesse's Minister Praises Palantir's 'Hessendata' in Preventing Terror and Crime

Hesse's Interior Minister Roman Poseck has praised the use of Palantir's 'Hessendata' analysis software by the state's police, citing successes such as preventing a terrorist attack and apprehending the Reuß group. Poseck advocates for a nationwide solution and wants the federal government to adopt similar software.

Poseck argues that abandoning 'Hessendata' would leave a noticeable security gap, as there's no comparable German or European product yet. However, he acknowledges that alternatives are being developed. In Europe, the French platform ArgonOS by ChapsVision is designed for police and intelligence services with full European data sovereignty. Meanwhile, various EU-funded research projects like VIGILANT are exploring AI-based police analysis tools. In Germany, while some providers are emerging, concrete projects depend on political decisions and clear legal frameworks.

Poseck believes the IT industry in Germany and Europe should develop alternative offers, with the state providing support. He sees a need for Europe to catch up in digital sovereignty and reduce dependence on the United States.

Poseck's endorsement of 'Hessendata' highlights its role in enhancing security. As Europe works on developing alternatives, Poseck's call for a nationwide solution and reduced dependence on U.S. technology underscores the importance of digital sovereignty in maintaining security and protecting citizens.
