Hulu Lands in UK on October 8, 2023, Bringing Popular Shows and Live TV
Streaming giant Hulu is set to make its UK debut on October 8, 2023, bringing with it a wealth of popular shows such as The Bear, Shogun, and Only Murders in the Building. The service, known for its extensive library including Alien Earth, King of the Hill, and Futurama, will initially be available within the Disney+ app, replacing the Star brand.
Hulu's UK launch comes over six years after its inception in 2007, boasting over 55.5 million paid memberships globally. The platform will offer a Live hub, providing access to live news, sports, events, and 24/7 streams. Meanwhile, Disney+ has announced price increases for its UK subscribers, with the Supported By Ads plan rising to £5.99/month, Standard to £9.99/month, and Premium to £14.99/month. Additionally, annual prices for Disney+ Standard and Premium plans have increased by £10 and £20 respectively.
In preparation for Hulu's arrival, the Disney+ app's Star brand will be replaced by Hulu starting October 8, 2025. The Disney+ website will also undergo updates to reflect this change. Users can expect a new navigation bar and tabs for individual catalogs, with the 'For You' tab serving as the new homebase for personalized recommendations, powered by an updated algorithm.
Hulu's UK launch marks a significant expansion for the streaming service, offering British audiences a wealth of content. While Disney+ subscribers will see price increases, they can look forward to a revamped app experience with Hulu's integration, set to replace the Star section in late 2025.
