Hyptec's subsidiary, GAC Hyptec, unveils extended-range Electric Vehicle (EREV) variant of the common Hyptec HL featuring a substantial 350-kilometer battery range.
The Hyptec HL EREV, the latest extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) from GAC Group's sub-brand Hyptec, has been making waves in the automotive industry.
The Hyptec HL EREV boasts a maximum torque of 430 Nm, making it a powerful addition to the EREV market. It also supports 800V 5C ultra-fast charging, ensuring rapid recharging for those on the go.
Under the hood, the Hyptec HL EREV comes standard with a 1.5 L engine as a range extender. This extended-range system, named "our X (Twitter) profileingyuan," is equipped with GAC's in-house developed fourth-generation 1.5 DHE engine.
The vehicle's performance is impressive, with a maximum power of 250 kW (340 horsepower). According to GAC, in an A-class sedan, the fuel consumption of the extended-range system is 3.3 liters per 100 kilometers, and 5.3 liters for a large SUV.
With a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery, the Hyptec HL EREV achieves a CLTC combined range of 1,369 kilometers. Its WLTC fuel consumption when the battery is depleted is 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers.
The Hyptec HL EREV is available only in rear-wheel drive. It is equipped with a 60-kWh Freevoy Battery provided by CATL, giving it a CLTC battery range of 350 km.
In addition to the Hyper HL EREV, GAC is expected to launch more EREV models. Another notable development comes from brand Xpeng, which will launch a hybrid variant of its X9 MPV in the fourth quarter of this year. This extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) will feature a 1.5-liter engine as a range extender and a battery range of over 450 kilometers.
IM Motors also recently unveiled an extended-range system called "Hengxing," featuring CATL's Freevoy Max battery pack with a capacity of up to 66 kWh, providing a CLTC range of up to 450 kilometers.
The starting price for the Hyptec HL EREV is RMB 269,800 ($37,540). Deliveries of the battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant began on April 28, following the launch of the Hyptec HL SUV on April 12.
