iconic TAG Heuer F1 watch reemerges, blending '80s retro charm with solar technology
TAG Heuer Unveils Affordable and Celebratory Formula 1 Solargraph Collection
TAG Heuer has announced the release of its 2025 Formula 1 Solargraph collection, a sporty and solar-powered watch line positioned as an accessible choice for enthusiasts. Priced under $2,000 USD, the collection offers nine distinct colorways, including several special editions tied to Formula 1 Grand Prix events in 2025.
The collection features three standard production models: a white dial with black bezel and red accents, a blue dial and bezel, and an all-red TH-Polylight case. Three variants of the new collection feature full TH-Polylight cases in vibrant red or blue.
Three notable race-specific special editions within the nine total color variants have been announced. The green-bezeled version is for Silverstone, the black DLC-coated case with yellow accents is for Mexico, and the striking blue TH-Polylight case is for Singapore.
Each watch comes on either a three-link bracelet or a color-matched rubber strap. The new collection retains the distinctive case shape of the original but grows to a 38mm diameter.
The Solargraph movement, which uses photovoltaic cells to charge a power cell that can run for up to 10 months on a full charge, powers the new collection. TAG Heuer claims the Solargraph movements should function trouble-free for at least 15 years.
The new Formula 1 Solargraph collection is launching in phases throughout the 2025 Formula 1 season, with the first models available starting April 2025. Six limited editions will be released throughout the season, each timed to coincide with a specific Grand Prix.
The dials of the new collection maintain a clear lineage to the '80s versions but add applied indexes and refined handsets for improved legibility. Three references will be part of the permanent collection, while six are limited editions ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 pieces.
The Formula 1 was designed as a dive watch with a rotating bezel, despite its motor racing name. The new collection features plastic bezels made from a proprietary material called TH-Polylight.
TAG Heuer is once again an official partner of Formula 1 racing in 2025, further emphasising the collection's connection to the world of motorsport. The price range for the collection starts at CHF 1,750 for models on a rubber strap and CHF 1,850 for those on a steel bracelet.
The original TAG Heuer Formula 1 was introduced in the 1980s as a response to the Swatch phenomenon. TAG Heuer continues this legacy with the 2025 Formula 1 Solargraph collection, offering an affordable, sporty, and stylish timepiece that celebrates the excitement of Formula 1 racing.
