IGT Signs Agreement with Caliente to Fuel Retail Sports Betting in Mexico and Latin America
International Game Technology (IGT), a US-based company renowned for its reputation in the gaming industry, has signed a multi-year agreement with Grupo Caliente, one of Latin America's largest sportsbook operators. The partnership aims to expand IGT's PlaySports technology across the region, starting with 42 retail sportsbooks in Mexico.
The initial phase of the partnership will see IGT's PlaySports technology powering Caliente's retail sportsbooks in Mexico. This move is expected to capture the interest of sports fans in the region, providing a future-proofed solution and a complementary trading services program designed to address regional needs.
Eduardo Hernández Triana, CEO of Grupo Caliente, considers the PlaySports rollout an "exciting milestone" for his corporation. He praises IGT for its uniquely qualified status to help Grupo Caliente upgrade its betting products and player engagement.
The agreement also positions IGT as a leading legal sports betting platform in the region and globally, enhancing mobile and retail betting offerings across Latin America. It will further capitalize on emerging legalization trends, with plans to extend the PlaySports technology to over 100 additional venues across eight countries, including Uruguay, Paraguay, Panama, Ecuador, Brazil, Aruba, Argentina, and Antigua.
Joe Bertolone, IGT's SVP Sports Betting, stated that they worked with Caliente to deliver this future-proofed solution and a complementary trading services program. The solution is aimed at addressing the needs of sports fans in a manner that scales with future opportunities.
The partnership combines technology implementation with trading advisory services, supporting modern, regulated sportsbooks while complying with local betting laws. It also aims to establish a long-term presence in the region alongside Grupo Caliente, one of the largest regional operators.
The agreement is significant for IGT's growth in the sports betting market, extending its presence in Mexico and Latin America. It is also expected to increase competition in the Mexican sports betting market. Caliente will provide select sportsbook operators across Latin America with access to the PlaySports-powered platform.
This strategic move by IGT is a step towards solidifying its position in the global gaming industry, particularly in the rapidly growing sports betting market in Latin America. The partnership with Grupo Caliente marks an exciting development for both companies and for sports fans across the region.
