Titan Quest 2: A Refined ARPG Experience in Early Access

Titan Quest 2, an action RPG inspired by Greek mythology, is currently in early access on Steam. This sequel to the beloved Titan Quest, developed by Grimlore Games, has been making waves, sitting second only to Battlefield 6 on Steam's "global top sellers" list.

The game offers a tactical and timing-focused combat system, with two chapters (Intro + Ichtian) and four masteries: Earth, Storm, Warfare, and Rogue. Combat emphasizes dodging telegraphed attacks, crowd control, and strategic targeting of enemy types such as Brutes, Man Catchers, and Healer Enchanters. Elite enemies and bosses have challenging, pattern-based attacks requiring memorization and skillful evasion.

Key features in the current version include a dual-mastery system, allowing players to choose two masteries to create their class with core, active, and passive abilities that can be respecced anytime or at Ritual Shrines to reset skills, attributes, difficulty, and world enemies. Players earn Divinity Points via leveling, challenges, and quests, which unlock deeper mastery tiers for build customization. Active skills have modifiers to further tailor them, powered by Skill Capacity gained from leveling.

However, some player feedback suggests improvements are needed, such as ability casting following the mouse cursor and a bigger inventory, along with performance optimizations ongoing. Multiplayer is currently in an early preview state, functional but lacking features.

The early access content currently includes 2 chapters, 50+ enemy types, 6 bosses, 9 main quests, and 14 side quests. Levels provide separate points for active skills, passive skills, and divinity levels, improving customization over the original Titan Quest.

Grimlore Games plans to release major updates for Titan Quest 2 roughly every three months, with the aim of reaching a level of polish and quality of life features that surpasses that of Titan Quest 1. The early access phase is designed to allow for community feedback to guide the development of the game, with the development team intending to shape the game's content and features based on this input.

At the time of writing, 83% of Titan Quest 2's user reviews are positive, making for a "Very Positive" overall rating. The early access phase is expected to last as long as needed, with a potential duration of one year. Titan Quest 2's exit from early access will come after significant improvements and updates have been made.

In summary, Titan Quest 2 early access offers a refined tactical ARPG experience building on the original’s dual mastery system, with challenging combat, respec options, and ongoing improvements planned to expand content and polish gameplay.
