India demonstrated another anti-drone system, named 'Bhargavastra', following persisting drone attacks from Pakistan.
HAVING A DEAL WITH DRONES:
Getting Ready to Take On Drone Swarms with 'Bhargavastra'
In the heart of India, Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited (SDAL) has smashed the barrier in countering the concerning rise of drone swarms, unleashing the innovative, pocket-friendly Counter Drone System named 'Bhargavastra.' This groundbreaking invention underscores the significant progress India's air defense sector is making.
'Bhargavastra' has undergone rigorous testing at Gopalpur's Seaward Firing Range, hitting all the right notes. Three trials were held, with a pair of trials involving one rocket each, and another salvo-style trial firing two rockets in just two seconds. The trials spotlighted the tech's remarkable performance, meeting every launch parameter with flying colors.
A Unified Solution for the UAV Problem
Loaded with advanced features, 'Bhargavastra' excels in detecting and eliminating approaching drones within a distance of up to 2.5 kilometers. Its first line of defense embraces unguided micro rockets that, when tackling a swarm, create a lethal radius of 20 meters. For pinpoint accuracy, the second defense layer equips guided micro-missiles designed for surgical precision — a technology already proven.
Going Places Across the Terrain
Designed to adapt to various landscapes, including high-altitude locations (well over 5,000 meters), 'Bhargavastra' caters to India's armed forces' unique operational needs. SDAL applauds the system's flexibility and affordability, highlighting its indigenous design using domestic rocket and micro-missile technology, geared to vanquish hostile UAVs. To further enhance protection, the system can bonus a soft-kill layer comprising jamming and spoofing capabilities for a holistic protective system.
Adaptability is Key
The modular 'Bhargavastra' lets users customize sensors (Radar, EO, and RF Receiver) and shooters to fit various requirements, ensuring seamless integration for layered and tiered air defense coverage, and engagement at longer ranges. The system is also prepared for easy integration with existing network-centric warfare infrastructure.
Outfitted with a state-of-the-art Command-and-Control Centre boasting advanced C4I technology, 'Bhargavastra's radar can detect aerial perils as minute as 6 to 10 km away, and its Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensor suite further ensures precise target identification.
A Leap Forward for the Future
According to its developers, 'Bhargavastra' is a pivotal leap in counter-drone technology. Its open-source architecture is a game-changer, as many advanced nations invest in similar micro-missile systems. Yet the only counter-drone system with swarm neutralization capabilities like 'Bhargavastra' is yet to surface anywhere globally.
Putting the cherry on top, 'Bhargavastra' adds yet another feather to the 'Make in India' cap, reinforcing India's robust air defense umbrella.
Bhargavastra's innovative technology showcases the progress in India's air defense sector, as it successfully counters drone swarms.
The open-source architecture of 'Bhargavastra' positions it as a beacon in counter-drone technology, setting India apart on a global scale by offering swarm neutralization capabilities unmatched by any other system.
