Intel's Arc Graphics Cards Get Major Performance Boost

Intel's Arc graphics cards have received a significant boost in performance, thanks to recent optimizations that reduce CPU load. This improvement brings them closer to the level of GeForce and Radeon cards.

Hardware Unboxed, an Australian hardware website, has reported and benchmarked these improvements. The site found that in Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, the Arc B580 now performs on par with the Radeon RX 9060 XT on a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU. This is a notable change, as previously, Intel's Arc cards struggled with high CPU load, particularly on smaller CPUs.

The optimizations, present in driver version 7028 released in August, have significantly reduced this load in heavily affected games. However, the issue is not yet fully resolved. Intel has confirmed these improvements, validating Hardware Unboxed's findings. Until now, Intel's Arc cards lacked high-end models, limiting their use with processors outside of high-end variants. The optimizations were not publicly announced by Intel and are not tied to the jump to the 8000 driver branch.

Intel's Arc graphics cards have seen a substantial performance boost with recent driver optimizations. While the high CPU load issue is not fully resolved, the improvements bring these cards closer to their competitors. Further updates are expected to continue enhancing the performance of Intel's Arc series.
