International Food and Beverage Exposition takes place in Ho Chi Minh City
The Vietfood & Beverage – Propack exhibition is set to take center stage in Vietnam's food and beverage industry, marking the largest international trade fair showcasing the full value chain from raw materials and food processing to packaging and distribution. The event, which runs from August 7 to 9 in HCM City, is a significant platform connecting domestic and global brands, promoting sustainable trade cooperation, investment, and industry development in Vietnam [1][2][4].
This year's edition is expected to host around 1,400 booths featuring 1,000 companies from 20 countries and territories, with over 30,000 professionals expected to attend [2][4]. The focus of the expo is on innovation and sustainability, with highlights including smart packaging, automation, digital and Industry 4.0 technologies for food processing, eco-friendly packaging solutions, and extended producer responsibility (EPR) practices discussed in the “Green Packaging Forum” to promote sustainable development of packaging [1][3].
The exhibits span a wide range of industries, including food processing machinery, beverage innovations, clean and safe processed foods using AI and automation, and advanced packaging technologies that extend shelf life without preservatives [1][2]. The event acts as a comprehensive ecosystem uniting suppliers, developers, experts, and consumers, with forums and dialogues facilitating policy discussions, technology exchange, and market readiness [1][2][3].
One of the key participants in this year's event is the Liang Zhi Long Food Ingredients Pavilion, marking the first time Liang Zhi Long Group has brought its enterprises to participate in an exhibition in Vietnam [5]. The pavilion features interactive activities such as buyer matching, themed seminars, product tasting, and QR-guided tours [6].
The food and foodstuff industry continues to play a crucial role in HCM City's economy, as indicated by the Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade. The city's exports reached US$31.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13%, accounting for over 15% of the country's total export turnover [7]. Industrial production has seen a sustainable recovery, with the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rising 8.6% [8].
In addition to the main expo, the "Green Packaging Forum: EPR Journey Towards Sustainable Value" is being held within the framework of the event, focusing on policies and a roadmap for implementing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in the packaging sector [9]. The forum aims to help enterprises better understand their legal obligations and find optimal solutions in handling discarded packaging, increasing recycling rates, and designing environmentally friendly products [10].
The Vietfood & Beverage - Propack expo is expected to open up opportunities for product display, promotion, market expansion, and technology transfer for both domestic and international businesses. The event brings together government officials, industry associations, producers, importers, recyclers, international organisations, environmental startups, academics, and policy experts [11]. The expo, which combines food, beverage, processing technology, and packaging for food and beverage, is being held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre and will run until Saturday [12].
