International Trade Fair for OCOP Products Set to Commence Next Month
The **OCOP (One Commune, One Product) Export Products Fair**, also known as **OCOPEX 2025**, is set to take place from August 1 to 3 this year at the Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long in Hanoi, Vietnam. This event serves as a platform to showcase the country's rural economic development initiative, focusing on products that embody local strengths and cultures.
The OCOP program, launched by the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aims to transform small-scale agricultural production into value-added products that meet market demands. The program emphasizes traceability, standards, and regional cultural values, contributing to changes in rural production towards linking value chains.
At OCOPEX 2025, over 300 booths from more than 150 enterprises will display OCOP-certified products. These products, which have gained a good reputation both domestically and internationally, include tea, coffee, souvenirs, medicinal products, agarwood, essential oils, turmeric powder, processed foods, dried foods, bird's nests, and beauty products like shampoo, conditioner, and serum.
Vietnam's success in exporting popular agricultural products and many specialty products with local cultural value is attributed to the country's diverse advantages and potential in natural resources, climate, and culture. The OCOP program has unleashed the potential of localities' comparative advantages in production, leading to a significant increase in the number of OCOP products. By the end of 2024, there were 14,642 OCOP products in the country, an increase of 3,586 products from 2023.
In addition to the product exhibitions, OCOPEX 2025 will also feature a forum on global consumption trends and opportunities for OCOP exports, as well as a seminar on digital transformation in developing OCOP exports. These events aim to promote and increase the export of OCOP-certified products.
The OCOP Phú Quốc fish sauce, a popular product under the program, is already available in many domestic and foreign markets. The fair is expected to further boost the export of these products, helping Vietnam continue to make strides in its economic development.
