The electric vehicle market continues to grow, and GAC Aion, a brand under Guangzhou Auto Corporation, is adding to its lineup with the introduction of the Aion UT EV hatchback. Here's what you need to know about this new model.

The Aion UT EV hatchback comes equipped with an electric motor that delivers a maximum power output of 100 kW (134 hp), operating on a front-wheel drive system. This subcompact hatchback, featuring five doors and five seats, boasts a unibody frame and offers a 440-liter trunk.

The battery capacity of the Aion UT EV hatchback is 34.868 kWh, providing a CLTC-rated range of approximately 330 km. The vehicle's performance is impressive, with a top speed of 150 km/h and electricity consumption around 11.4 kWh/100 km.

Charging is made easy with the Aion UT EV hatchback's fast-charging capabilities and liquid-cooled battery. The interior of the vehicle is fitted with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. It also supports features such as HiCar, CarLink, Apple CarPlay, OTA updates, in-car WiFi, and mobile phone remote control.

Safety and driving assistance features include an electric parking brake, ventilated front disc brakes, and disc rear brakes. Higher trim models offer Level 2 Advanced Driving Assistance, automatic emergency braking, and a 5-axis roll-over airbag controller.

Comfort and convenience are not overlooked in the Aion UT EV hatchback. Features such as automatic air conditioning, electric seat adjustments (in higher trims), dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a panoramic sunroof, and a smart electric tailgate are available.

The Aion UT EV hatchback made its debut a week before the Guangzhou Auto Show in July 2025. Although the exact pre-sale date has not been announced, given the February 2025 launch and July updates, pre-sales most likely opened around or after early 2025. For the most accurate information, it is recommended to contact GAC Aion dealers or wait for official announcements.

Meanwhile, GAC Aion has also released the Aion V Plus, a new compact crossover SUV. The Aion V Plus comes in three versions: the Plus 70, the Plus 80, and the Plus 90, with battery sizes of 70 kWh, 80 kWh, and 95 kWh respectively. The NEDC range for the three versions is 500, 600, and 702 kilometers respectively. The Aion V Plus is fitted with GAC's new super charging technology called "AESafe" and can charge up to 200 kilometers of range in five minutes with the new A480 supercharger.

The Aion V Plus features a separate floating screen setup, with a main touch screen measuring 15.6 inches, and a new front design called the "Star Wars Warhead Front Face". The side profile of the Aion V Plus features a floating roof and black rear-door handles that morph into the rear light units. Buyers of the Aion V Plus receive a fancy V Plus badge on the back.

The Aion V Plus is officially released on the market today, September 29. The Aion brand, under Guangzhou Auto Corporation (GAC), also launched five new models, including the Aion V Plus, Aion Y, Hyptec HT, Trumpchi GS4, and Aion ES.
