Revolutionizing U.S. Defense Manufacturing: Hadrian Secures $260 Million in Funding

Hadrian, a defense tech startup based in the United States, is revolutionizing the American defense manufacturing sector with AI-powered, highly automated factories designed to accelerate production of precision parts and full mission-critical systems for the Department of Defense (DoD).

The company's mission is to modernize the American defense manufacturing base, addressing a $100+ billion manufacturing bottleneck in the defense sector. Hadrian's technology includes autonomous CNC machining, robotic handling, software-defined workflows, digital twin integration with defense primes, and real-time monitoring.

In a recent funding round, Hadrian secured an additional $13 million, bringing the total equity raised to more than $213 million. The funds will be used to build two new factories, including a 100,000 sq ft flagship site, and will also be allocated to expanding Hadrian's robotics and software teams. The funding round was led by Founders Fund and Lux Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Construct Capital, and Lachy Groom.

The new facilities, such as "Factory 3" in Mesa, Arizona, represent a $200 million investment in a 270,000-square-foot AI-driven factory and software hub. This factory, along with others planned for launch and scale in the next year, supports high-demand defense sectors like munitions, shipbuilding, and naval defense, directly addressing urgent DoD priorities.

Hadrian's technology enables the U.S. defense sector to move at startup speed without compromising on security or precision. The company is advancing material science research for thermal-resistant components and expanding its capabilities to include welding, casting, additive manufacturing, and other advanced processes to cover the full manufacturing stack—from raw materials to complete platforms.

By leveraging AI-powered automation for faster, higher-precision manufacturing, providing rapid factory setup and scalability with autonomous operations, expanding beyond CNC to a full suite of manufacturing processes, enabling flexible production through Factories-as-a-Service tailored to DoD needs, and rebuilding U.S. industrial capacity to meet strategic defense demands and compete internationally, Hadrian aims to reindustrialize America’s defense manufacturing capacity, secure strategic leadership in advanced manufacturing, and create hundreds of new jobs domestically.

Several Department of Defense units are exploring direct partnerships with Hadrian to speed up project delivery and secure supply lines. Hadrian is quickly becoming a cornerstone of the U.S. defense supply chain, with major primes relying on its platform to manufacture components for drones, satellites, radar systems, and other mission-critical platforms.

The funding includes $110 million in equity and $150 million in non-dilutive debt, reflecting investor confidence in Hadrian's strong revenue model. Hadrian's factories are on track to become the backbone of a faster, more secure defense economy, addressing the critical need for modernization in the defense sector.
