Kazakhstan's Mirny Wind Project Kicks Off in 2026 with Envision & SANY Turbines
The Mirny wind project in Kazakhstan, a major step towards cleaner energy, has seen significant progress. Envision Energy and SANY Renewable Energy have been selected to supply turbines, with construction set to begin in 2026.
The Mirny project, located in the Zhambyl Region, will feature 150 wind turbines. Envision Energy will provide 6.5 MW turbines, prioritizing local content and a global green supply chain. Meanwhile, SANY Renewable Energy will supply 7.7 MW turbines, with some production taking place at Kazakhstan's first-ever wind power equipment manufacturing plant.
The project is a landmark example of international cooperation, with TotalEnergies playing a key role. It aims to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale, supporting Kazakhstan's ambition to reach 15% renewable energy in its national mix by 2030. Siemens Gamesa will also contribute, supplying the wind turbines.
Envision Energy and SANY Renewable Energy were chosen for their global leadership in wind turbine technology and cost-effective solutions. The Mirny project is not just about energy production; it's also a significant step in strengthening Kazakhstan's energy security and advancing its path towards carbon neutrality by 2060.
The Mirny wind project, with its one-gigawatt capacity, is set to transform Kazakhstan's energy landscape. With construction starting in 2026 and completion expected by 2028, it will bring clean energy, enhance security, and drive the nation towards its renewable energy and carbon neutrality goals.
