KPMG's Customer Protection Research Yields Compliments from EGBA
The Lowdown on EGBA's Top-Notch Customer Protections, as Revealed by KPMG
The European Gaming & Betting Association (EGBA) dropped a bombshell with a new report from KPMG – revealing that EGBA's own members rock in the customer protection department!
KPMG: EGBA Members Set the Bar High
This report, commissioned by EGBA, put six of their members' websites under the microscope – two in Denmark and the UK each, and comparison websites for finance, relationship, liquor, esports, and social media industries. The weighty judgment? EGBA members excel at shielding their customers.
Maarten Haijer, EGBA's top boss, spilled the beans on the results. He declared that the findings serve as a "beacon" of the protection levels offered by EGBA members – aiming to show whether these firms can protect customers and lead by example within the gaming sector.
The report puts EGBA members through their paces using five benchmarks: know-your-customer, customer safety, data protection, AML, and advertising standards. KPMG found that EGBA's members go above and beyond toensure safe gaming and data protection for their clients.
EGBA Members: The Customer Protection Crusaders
The websites of the analyzed EGBA members showcase robust safety measures, according to KPMG. Both UK and Denmark sites boast "extensive" know-your-customer procedures, and nearly all require customers to provide proof of identity upon sign-up.
In gambling safety, all websites showcased a host of tools to promote responsible gaming. Self-exclusion tools, loss limits, and helplines are common components on these gaming platforms, as per the review.
The data protection policies on these sites were found to be thorough, detailing customers' rights, data retention, data control, lawful basis for processing data, privacy policy, and personal information management.
KPMG also applauded the strict anti-money laundering measures deployed by most of the reviewed websites, although a couple lagged a bit behind – having only moderate AML information available.
The report noted that all sites but one informed their customers about potential targeted marketing using their personal data. Four even gave customers the option of opting out of such communications.
The EGBA continues its mission to demonstrate excellent consumer protection practices in the European gambling industry. The association recently published pan-European AML guidelines. Now that's earning some brownie points!
