Largest Fuel Cell Installation in the World Unveiled by Bloom Energy

Bloom Energy, a global leader in stationary fuel cell and power generation, has announced a landmark project in partnership with SK Eternix. This collaboration marks a significant milestone as they aim to deliver fuel cells for the largest single-site installation in history, totaling 80 MW.

The project, led by Bloom Energy's Founder, Chairman, and CEO, KR Sridhar, will be located in two ecoparks in North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. This installation is set to surpass the current record held by Bloom Energy's 10 MW solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) facility commissioned in California, making it the largest single-site deployment of fuel cells in the U.S. as of 2024.

In a testament to Bloom's ability to build strong partnerships with global leaders, SK Eternix, a separate public entity from SK D&D, will be the key partner in this venture. Bloom Energy will supply its world-class SOFCs and lead equipment management and maintenance.

Meanwhile, Doosan Fuel Cell, a prominent South Korean player in the fuel cell sector, is another key partner in this project. Doosan Fuel Cell, using Ceres Power's solid oxide technology, has a dedicated factory in Jeollabuk-do province, South Korea, where it manufactures fuel cell stacks and power systems. This facility is noted as the world's first metal-supported solid oxide fuel cell and systems factory using Ceres technology.

SK Eternix, in its role as a leader in Korea's renewable energy sector, will continue to expand eco-friendly projects that support regional sustainability. The new fuel cell installation will provide reliable, sustainable energy for critical infrastructure and regional development.

The project finance, led by Korea Development Bank, marks the largest project financing for fuel cells in the history of South Korea. This successful financing agreement reaffirms the international market's trust and expectations for Bloom Energy's renewable energy capabilities. The collaboration between Bloom Energy and SK Eternix demonstrates the international market's continued confidence in Bloom's SOFC technology to power critical industries around the globe.

The project is expected to begin commercial operations in 2025, further cementing Bloom Energy's position as a pioneer in the clean energy sector. With 1.3 GW deployed worldwide, the company continues to lead the way in delivering resilient power solutions to international markets.
