List of Adobe applications: selecting suitable software for diverse creative assignments

Adobe has recently unveiled a series of updates to its Creative Cloud suite, including the introduction of Generative AI technology, which is set to revolutionise the way users create images and videos.

One of the key updates is the integration of Generative AI technology into Adobe Firefly, a technology that allows users to employ text prompts to generate images or video. This new feature is now available across several Adobe apps, including Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and Fresco.

Lightroom, Adobe's popular photo editing tool, continues to preserve the original image integrity with its non-destructive edits. It also offers AI-tools for cleaning up images and masking options for local edits. Additionally, it supports most Raw formats and recognises a wide range of cameras and lenses.

For social media creators, Adobe Express has been designed with easy-to-use templates, simple design tools, and access to Adobe Stock photos, Adobe Fonts, and other design assets.

Photoshop, an industry-standard image editing software, can be used for editing and composing raster images, graphics, and text in multiple layers, and creating and editing 3D graphics and video.

Adobe Premiere Pro is a comprehensive video editing tool, widely used in film, TV, and digital media industries. It supports video cropping, resizing, rotating, and colour correction, plus a host of sound and sequence editing features.

Adobe Fresco, a digital art app, mimics the best elements of other fine art programs, combining the expression and power of Photoshop brushes with the precision of vector brushes.

Adobe Dimension is a tool for mocking up, compositing, and rendering photorealistic 3D images based on 2D and 3D models, photos, and textures.

Adobe Dreamweaver is a tool for people who want to build websites or HTML newsletters without learning how to code. However, with the rise of user-friendly website builders, Dreamweaver might not be as popular in 2024.

Adobe InDesign is a page layout tool primarily used for print design and digital publishing. All content is saved in the cloud, making it easy to edit across multiple devices, with an auto-sync option.

Adobe Illustrator is focused on vector graphics for creating graphics, illustrations, and complex designs.

The latest update to Adobe's software list is Firefly's Generative Video. This update brings improved motion fidelity, expanded generative AI partner integrations, advanced video controls and workflow tools, composition reference, keyframe cropping, generate sound effects (beta), text to avatar (beta), flexible camera motion options, integration with Adobe Express and Premiere Pro, and the ability to generate videos from text prompts or still images, among others.

These updates collectively enhance Firefly's generative video capacities by improving quality, offering greater user control, integrating partner AI models, and adding sound generation directly within the platform to support diverse multimedia creation needs.

Adobe's software list includes 50 apps, with 13 main ones being highlighted. The Photography Plan includes Photoshop and Lightroom, with a recent price increase. Premiere Pro is often used in conjunction with other Creative Cloud apps like After Effects, Audition, and Photoshop.

There's a free and a premium plan, with the premium plan included in a Creative Cloud all-apps subscription and some single-app plans. The main advantage of using Adobe's software is the seamless integration between apps, allowing for a more efficient creative workflow.
