Live on our platform Unstablenet: the testnet for smart contracts is active

Unstablenet, a new testnet designed for developing, experimenting, and deploying smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible blockchain of Shardeum, is set to launch on July 24, 2025.

The primary purpose of the Unstablenet testnet is to provide a dedicated, sandbox environment for developers to build, test, experiment with, break, and refine smart contracts and dApps before deploying them on the mainnet. This testnet is specifically designed for development and experimentation on Shardeum's autoscaling Layer 1 blockchain.

Unstablenet offers several benefits to developers, including linear scalability, seamless token and stake transfers, and very low transaction fees (under $0.01). This allows developers to focus on creating robust and user-friendly dApps without the burden of mainnet network congestion or unpredictable gas fees.

To start interacting with Unstablenet, users need a wallet such as MetaMask configured with the provided RPC details. The RPC endpoint for Unstablenet is https://api-unstable.our website.org. The explorer URL for Unstablenet is https://explorer-unstable.our website.org/.

The testnet features components that are under active stress-testing by the engineering team. Users can evaluate smart contract interactions, transaction handling, and dApp behavior under different conditions on Unstablenet.

In addition to the technical aspects, the website is also introducing incentives to recognise and support community contributions to Unstablenet. Users can participate in upcoming quests, interactive dApp contests, and bounties on Unstablenet. Users can also report vulnerabilities and bugs on Unstablenet for potential rewards.

The network name "our website Liberty 1.x" may appear in MetaMask when adding Unstablenet endpoints; it can be locally renamed as "our website Unstablenet". The Chain ID for Unstablenet is 8080.

Unstablenet does not have a fixed end date and is expected to run long-term. Support for community-run nodes is on the roadmap for Unstablenet. Users can follow the website's official social channels for real-time updates on Unstablenet and further announcements.

The website aims to enable various applications, including machine learning models and gaming platforms, that were previously not feasible on blockchains. Fixes and feature updates will be rolled out progressively by the tech team. Users can claim test SHM using the faucet channel on Discord. Bug reports and feedback can be submitted using the bug reporting channel on Discord.
