Luxury automaker Lexus showcases the updated 2025 LX model, introducing a new hybrid version dubbed LX 700h. The high-end hybrid flagship comes with a hefty price tag of $115,350.

The luxury automaker Lexus has announced an update for its iconic SUV, the LX, with the introduction of a new hybrid flagship model for the 2025 model year - the LX 700h.

The LX 700h boasts a revamped hybrid powertrain, a feature that is shared with Toyota's Tundra and Sequoia models. The powertrain consists of a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 457 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque - a significant increase over the 409 hp offered by the LX 600's twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine.

To accommodate the hybrid powertrain, reinforcements have been made to the LX's chassis, improving overall rigidity and steering feel. The engine mounts have been reinforced, a new cross member was introduced, and the spare tire was relocated beneath the rear floor. A new brace for the battery and the standard 12-volt auxiliary battery's shift to the side of the rear deck are among the other modifications.

The radiator support has been made more robust, and a sturdier instrument panel brace was added to ensure the LX 700h can handle the demands of off-road use, a key focus for this hybrid model. The retention of a conventional starter motor and alternator is also intended to ensure the vehicle can still function in the event of the hybrid system failing.

In addition to the technical upgrades, the LX 700h's design features unique details, and a new interior color and trim theme called Monolith. The Overtrail grade, a new addition for the LX in the 2025 model year, includes front and rear differential locks, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and the Monolith interior theme.

The base hybrid model of the updated Lexus LX is the new Overtrail grade, priced at $115,350. A phased rollout of the updated LX is scheduled to begin late this year from its Yoshiwara Plant in Japan.

The LX, which was introduced for the 2022 model year, is currently offered exclusively in LX 600 guise. However, with the arrival of the LX 700h, Lexus is signalling its commitment to hybrid technology and off-road capability in its premium SUV offering.
