Madison Boosts Clean Energy Portfolio with NextEra Acquisition

Madison Energy Infrastructure has acquired NextEra Energy's distributed generation business, bolstering its clean energy portfolio. The deal, finalised in 2025, adds nearly 1 GW of operating assets to Madison's existing infrastructure, totalling over 900 MW of distributed solar and energy storage.

NextEra's distributed generation unit, now part of Madison, boasts a robust pipeline of projects across 25 states. This acquisition not only expands Madison's customer base, which already includes Fortune 500 businesses and municipal utilities, but also strengthens its position in the clean energy market. The team from NextEra's distributed generation unit will also join Madison, bringing valuable expertise to the company.

Madison secured an $800 million debt facility to support this expansion. The company offers clients evaluations of clean energy services and solutions, including onsite solar and energy storage. With this acquisition, Madison's total operating clean energy infrastructure assets approach 1 GW.

The acquisition of NextEra Energy's distributed generation business by Madison Energy Infrastructure signals a significant step forward for Madison in the clean energy sector. With nearly 1 GW of operating assets and a strengthened customer base, Madison is poised to continue its growth and leadership in the market.
