In a bid to enhance convenience for foreign citizens in Russia, MegaFon, a leading telecom company, has partnered with the Multifunctional Centres (MFC) in the Leningrad Region. This partnership aims to streamline the process of SIM card activation, making it more accessible for foreigners.

The collaboration between MegaFon and MFC has been instrumental in simplifying administrative processes, such as SIM card registration and activation. Foreign citizens can now complete these tasks more efficiently by visiting MFCs, which offer identity verification and documentation services in one place. This reduces the need to visit multiple offices and speeds up the activation process.

The project is set to be expanded to all service centers of the Leningrad Region's MFC by the end of the month. This expansion is expected to further facilitate the process for foreign citizens. MegaFon also plans to extend this cooperation to other regions of the Russian Federation.

To conclude a new contract for mobile services, foreign citizens need to register on the State Services portal and confirm their registration. They also need to register in the Unified Biometric System and obtain an individual tax number (INN). For biometric data collection, a visit to a bank is necessary. All procedures may take up to two weeks.

However, it's important to note that the partnership between MegaFon and MFC does not eliminate the need for the earlier mentioned steps. Foreign citizens still need to obtain a notarized translation of their identification document.

The partnership between MegaFon and the Leningrad Region's MFC has already enabled the purchase of MegaFon SIM cards at the "Vsevolozhsky" business office. This facility is particularly relevant for foreign citizens, as it allows them to conclude a new contract, register and confirm their account on the State Services portal, and activate their SIM card in one place.

Igor Glebov, Director of the Development Department at MegaFon, emphasizes that reducing the time for activating contracts for communication services is a top priority for the company. The focus on reducing the time spent on activating contracts for communication services is a key aspect of MegaFon's work with new customers.

The cooperation between MegaFon and MFC is particularly beneficial for foreign citizens who may have limited time in the country. The simplified customer path, including concluding a new contract and reducing the activation time, is a significant step towards making Russia more welcoming for foreign visitors.

In this cooperation, MegaFon is working towards simplifying the process of contracting mobile services for foreign citizens, integrating the SIM card registration and activation processes with the services offered by the Multifunctional Centres (MFC). With the expansion of this partnership to all service centers of the Leningrad Region's MFC, foreign citizens can efficiently complete their mobile service activities, including account registration and SIM card activation, alongside their identity verification and documentation services.
