Moderate expansion in the Professional AudioVisual (Pro AV) sector persists, despite a cool macroeconomic climate, according to a recent AVIXA report.

The Professional Audio-Visual (Pro AV) market is showing signs of resilience, with the AV Index Sales (AVI-S) rebounding after a surprising drop last month. The AVI-S accelerated 2.3 points from 56.6 to 58.7 in July, indicating a signal of moderate expansion for the industry.

The current level of AVI-S should be seen as a positive sign, as it is roughly in line with what was normal pre-pandemic but on the low side. The AV Employment Index (AVI-E) has also shown a slight increase, with the AVI-E being reliably steadier than the AVI-S.

However, the U.S. economy is currently softening and not expanding at a strong rate. The economy added 114,000 jobs in July, below expectations of 175,000 and the average for normal times. This has resulted in an unemployment rate of 4.3%, up from 4.1%.

Despite these economic challenges, the U.S. had an annualized Q2 GDP growth of 2.8%, up from 1.4% in the first quarter and beyond the forecast of 2.1%. Europe also saw mixed results, with EU GDP expanding by 0.3% in the second quarter, with an annualized rate of 1.2%, while Germany experienced a 0.1% GDP decline in the second quarter, falling back into contraction.

On a global scale, the Pro AV market is expected to reach $325 billion in 2024. India, in particular, is highlighted as the fastest-growing Pro AV market globally and the third-largest in the Asia-Pacific region. India's Pro AV market alone is projected to reach $11.8 billion by 2029, driven by demand across corporate, education, and government sectors.

Key growth drivers identified in the AVIXA's 2024 Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis (IOTA) include the events and venue sector, particularly in EMEA, as a major growth area. There is also an expanding adoption of next-generation AV technologies such as digital signage, immersive lighting, control systems, and collaborative workplace tech. Additionally, increasing integration of AI and immersive AV experiences is fueling market demand.

The 2024 AVIXA IOTA presents a positive outlook, emphasizing rapid market expansion especially in emerging markets like India and sustained growth across industry verticals globally. The report projects strong growth for the Pro AV market in 2024 and beyond, with China's GDP growing by 0.7% in the second quarter, which is below both the 1.5% growth for Q1 and the forecast of 1.1%.

In conclusion, while the global economy is experiencing softening, the Pro AV market continues to show signs of growth and resilience. The market is expected to reach new heights in the coming years, driven by demand for next-generation technologies and the continued expansion of the events and venue sector.
