Monthly Launch of MacBooks Equipped with M4 Processors Appears Imminent

It's that time of year again, and Apple is gearing up for its fall product lineup refresh! As usual, they kicked things off in September with their new iPhone series, AirPods, and a freshened-up Apple Watch. Next on the agenda, in October, is the much-awaited MacBook lineup, rumored to be packing the new M4 chip, like the one we saw on the latest iPad Pro.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has teased that the M4 MacBook overhaul could be happening "in the coming weeks," so let's dive into what's brewing:

  1. A new budget 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro: codenamed J604, this laptop is expected to be a budget-friendly contender.
  2. Two higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro options: J614 and J616, featuring the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, respectively.
  3. A new M4-powered iMac: J623, hopefully complete with the switch to Type-C ports, a move EU officials will surely appreciate.

As for the Mac Mini, it's expected to get two new M4 and M4 Pro SoC variants, a welcome upgrade after skipping through the M3 lineup. Look forward to waiting until the first quarter of 2025 for the MacBook Airs, with rumors of an M4 upgrade for the 13-inch and 15-inch models coming by the spring.

Apple's Mac Studio and Mac Pro are set for mid-to-late 2025, promising higher-end M4 chips with even greater graphics and processing power.

Unfortunately, there's not much information on the iPad's M4 upgrade, but we can anticipate new, lower-end iPad models to hit shelves alongside the MacBook Pros next month.

  2. In 2025, Apple enthusiasts can anticipate an upgrade to the MacBook Airs, with both the 13-inch and 15-inch models potentially incorporating the M4 chip.
  3. Interestingly, tech reserves suggest that Apple might release new Type-C port-equipped iMac models powered by the M4 chip in the near future.
  4. In the future, the more robust M4 chips could potentially be integrated into Apple's high-end Mac Studio and Mac Pro, offering improved graphics and processing capabilities.
