Munich Re Names Walter Voigts-von Forster as New Africa CEO

Munich Re has appointed Walter Voigts-von Forster as the new CEO of its Africa Branch, effective 1 February 2026, pending regulatory approval. He brings over 18 years of experience in the reinsurance sector and will report to Roland Eckl, the chief executive for Munich Re Australasia, Greater China, MENA and Africa.

Voigts-von Forster, who joined Munich Re in 2007, will also continue to head the non-life business unit for Munich Re Africa. He succeeds Nico Conradie, who is retiring after 23 years with Munich Re, including 10 years as CEO of the Africa Branch.

In his new role, Voigts-von Forster will represent Munich Re's business in Africa, a continent with a rich history and significant economic developments. Munich Re has been operating in Africa for 57 years, playing a leading role in the reinsurance market. Voigts-von Forster aims to continue this success, providing reliable reinsurance solutions to clients across the continent.
