Samsung and NASCAR Partner to Revolutionize Race-Day Operations

In an exciting development, Samsung has been announced as a new technology partner for NASCAR. This partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing the fan experience, racing operations, and enterprise processes for the popular motorsport.

The centerpiece of this collaboration is Samsung's The Wall, a massive 32-foot wide by 9-foot high microLED display, which serves as the central hub in NASCAR Productions' new remote race control room. This cutting-edge technology provides ultra-high-resolution, large-scale visual real estate for reviewing race footage and officiating decisions with exceptional clarity and precision.

The role of The Wall and other Samsung displays in this command center is multifaceted. Firstly, it elevates the precision of race control by offering detailed, real-time visuals that improve the accuracy of officiating and decision-making. Secondly, it enhances visibility by allowing multiple high-definition feeds and camera angles to be viewed simultaneously on a single massive screen, reducing the risk of missing critical moments. Lastly, it improves operational efficiency by enabling race officials and production teams to manage complex data and video streams more effectively during live events.

The new control room, housed in NASCAR's production facility in Concord, North Carolina, will be fully operational for this year's NASCAR Cup Series, starting with the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium on February 2. During races, up to 24 officials in the room will use The Wall as their primary screen to access replays from the SBG Sports Software system. They will also use 25 27-inch ViewFinity S6 high-resolution monitors and seven 49-inch Odyssey G9 monitors for data analysis.

The SBG Sports Software system is capable of aggregating up to 200 camera angles, all driver audio, and voice-to-text transcription of team radio transmissions. The remote race control room will provide officials with unparalleled views of over 200 camera angles with multiple data points from every car. The large-scale display will show a variety of data, including feeds from onboard cameras, Engine Control Units (ECUs), optical tracking cameras, Pit Road Officiating (PRO) systems, and official cameras at key locations.

This partnership and the new remote race control room aim to fuel a new era of race-day precision. Officials in Concord will use live feeds and intercom communications to consult with their counterparts at the track. The remote race control room will allow NASCAR to remotely officiate large-scale races nationwide in a precise, data-driven way.

The true-to-life picture quality of The Wall and Samsung's other displays will deliver footage and data with the finest level of detail. This technology contributes to a more advanced, visible, and precise race-day environment, directly supporting both the integrity of race officiating and the viewer experience.

More information about the new remote race control room can be found on the company's website.
