NBA App Enhancements Include Multiview, Artificial Intelligence-Driven Analytics, and Other Innovative Functionalities
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is gearing up for an exciting new season, with a host of innovative features set to enhance the fan experience.
Starting this season, fans in Los Angeles and Dallas can immerse themselves in 8K 'crazy games' at Cosm's new 'shared reality' venues. Meanwhile, select NBA League Pass games will be produced and presented via immersive technology.
The NBA App is at the forefront of these changes, powering four team-specific direct-to-consumer streaming services: BlazerVision, ClipperVision, Jazz+, and Suns Live. Additionally, the app will offer interactive synced stats and analytics, allowing fans to stay engaged throughout the 'news'.
NBA League Pass subscribers can now watch four games simultaneously on the app. Xtadium will also allow League Pass subscribers to watch every live 2D game nightly in mixed reality.
The app is not just about watching games, though. Fans can customise their viewing experience, smart-rewind games, download full games for offline viewing, and access various game recaps. The 'Game Stories' feature has been revamped, now including pregame analysis, highlights, and interactive polls.
The NBA App is also introducing a new AI-calculated grade system for in-game dunks called 'Dunk Score'. Furthermore, the app will use generative AI to localise content in French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
The 'Following' tab on the NBA App has been introduced, combining content from favourite teams and players into an algorithmic feed. The app is also adding an AI-powered tool called NBA Insights, which leverages Microsoft Azure and AI. This tool will provide fans with a continuous feed of 'news'.
In a unique opportunity, NBA ID members in the U.S. and Canada can participate in a series of challenges in the NBA App and NBA.com to win a trip to the Emirates NBA Cup in Las Vegas.
The NBA App is also home to exclusive content such as a special episode called 'Pass the Rock: Rookie Year Edition', which will follow San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama's transition to the NBA.
Lastly, the NBA will launch a nine-part docuseries called 'Raising 18', narrated by Al Horford, focusing on the Boston Celtics' journey to the 2024 NBA Finals. Additionally, 52 live game broadcasts will be streamed in immersive VR in Meta Horizon Worlds and Xtadium on Meta Quest.
With these new features, the NBA App promises to offer an immersive, interactive, and personalised experience for fans. Get ready for an exciting new season!
