Netflix Alters Its Television Application Layout

Hey there! Netflix is revamping its TV app, and the update goes live on May 19. The revamp aims to streamline content discovery, reducing the endless scroll through the service's library to find something you actually want to watch.

TV App Redesign Highlights

The updated interface will feature a persistent navigation bar at the top, providing quick access to Search, Shows, Movies, Games, and My Netflix. A central hub will house Continue Watching, My List, and Remind Me. The back button on your remote will take you directly to the navigation bar.

Content tiles will be larger, highlighting title details such as award wins, runtime, key cast members, and whether the content is newly added or leaving soon. The app will also deliver real-time, responsive recommendations based on trailers you watch, titles you thumbs up or down, and searches. Live events will be showcased at the top of the home screen.

The updates are rolling out to most TVs and TV streaming devices globally over a few weeks. If you don't see the update on May 19, don't worry, it's on its way.

Mobile App Makeover

Netflix is not only revamping the TV app but also freshening up the mobile app experience. This facelift includes a vertical video feed of clips and trailers, allowing users to watch the full version, add it to their list, or share it with ease.

Netflix has also been running tests on an AI-powered feature for iOS devices, providing recommendations based on conversational phrases that describe users' moods. Initially available only in Australia and New Zealand, this feature will soon be rolled out as an opt-in beta for wider use.

These adjustments are part of Netflix's ongoing mission to make its platform flexible and responsive to user needs as it explores new realms like live sports and cloud gaming.
