New Fallout adventure eagerly awaits players with a simple click
Fans of Bethesda's classics rejoice! With Good Old Games (GOG) stepping up their game, Fallout and Elder Scrolls enthusiasts have a smoother path ahead to indulge in expanse-sized content packs like Fallout: London and the highly anticipated Skyblivion.
While many gamers appreciate modded games, installing them can be a pain. Between dodgy zip files and the mod crashing every other minute, it quickly becomes a frustrating ordeal. But, fortunately, GOG's latest announcement aims to streamline the process.
Easier Modding with GOG's One-Click Mods
For the uninitiated, GOG is a digital game storefront devoid of DRM and owned by CD Projekt. Unlike other platforms like Steam, the main appeal of GOG lies in its ease of modding. One Reddit user even bought games on GOG over Steam solely for the superior modding experience. During the PC Gaming Summer Showcase 2025 on Sunday, GOG announced their "One-Click Mods" initiative, marking the beginning of a new era of modding.
This means that instead of fiddling with files, users can browse and install "selected" mods with a single click, instead of spending hours finding the right files or praying the mod doesn't break their game.
Alexander Grzech, part of the GOG team, explains that the One-click Mods are integrated into the base game, so installation is a matter of a single click. GOG guarantees that these mods have been thoroughly reviewed and tested by their QA team, ensuring their safety.
But Don't Expect Too Many Options Yet
Since this is just the beginning, the new feature currently supports a select list of mods. Still, there are already some big names on board, such as the fan-made Fallout: London - One-click Edition for Fallout 4. One Reddit user praised the move, saying, "One-click Fallout: London is something that should've been done from the start." Other supported mods include Horn of the Abyss for Heroes of Might and Magic III, Phobos for DOOM 3, and the Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines Unofficial Patch.
GOG also announced that Skyblivion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is coming later this year, and it has mostly been met with praise. With more mods and games slated to be added in the future, this feature is shaping up to make the modding experience far more accessible and enjoyable for users.
