New headsets for NFL coaches are being provided by Sony, enhancing the sidelines of the football field.

Sony's partnership with the National Football League (NFL) continues to push the boundaries of technology, with the introduction of new headsets designed to enhance game-day communications for players and coaches. Set to debut during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on July 31, 2025, the headsets will be provided to all 32 NFL teams, starting with the 2025 season.

The headsets have been meticulously developed, with Sony working directly with coaches and league officials to ensure they meet the demands of game day. Testing conditions have been rigorous, with the headsets subjected to various environmental factors, real-world scenarios, and player feedback.

One of the key features of the Sony headsets is their advanced noise-canceling technology. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology is used to reduce ambient noise, allowing players to focus on the game without distractions. Dual Noise Sensor Technology and adaptive noise cancellation further improve the clarity of communications and audio during games.

The headsets are designed to deliver clarity, focus, and performance in even the most challenging environments. They have been tested for stadium noise over 100 decibels, drops, exposure to sweat, rain, and extreme temperatures. The microphone in the headsets is custom-built to cut through sideline noise and automatically mute when flipped up, a feature designed for heated mid-game rants.

Sony's expertise in audio technology is evident in these new headsets, which incorporate noise-canceling technology from their WH-1000XM6 headphones. The headsets are designed to stay comfortable for hours during chaotic stadium environments, ensuring players can communicate effectively without discomfort.

Advanced visuals will be powered by Sony's imaging system and Beyond Sports platform, further enhancing the game-day experience. The partnership between Sony and the NFL allows for the integration of Sony's audio technology into various aspects of the NFL experience, from game-day communications to post-game analysis.

Neal Manowitz, president and chief operating officer of Sony, stated that the headsets are backed by decades of audio innovation at Sony. Feedback from coaches will continue to shape future versions of the Sony headsets, ensuring they remain at the forefront of technology in the sports industry.

With the Sony headsets set to become a fixture for every preseason and regular-season game, they are poised to revolutionise game-day communications and enhance the overall experience for NFL players and fans alike.
