New Marine Beast Product Launched by Garmin, Marking Their Sixth New Release in a Month

The Garmin quatix 8, their latest nautical smartwatch, is Garmin's sixth major product reveal in less than a month. Compared to its predecessor, the Garmin Quantix 7, it boasts some significant upgrades.

At its heart is a 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen, protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass and encased within a sturdy titanium bezel. The smartwatch comes in two sizes - 47mm and 51mm, with battery lives rated at up to 16 days and 29 days, respectively.

The quatix 8 is dive-rated to 40 meters, and it sports redesigned leakproof metal buttons akin to the Garmin Fenix 8 for increased underwater durability. Ideal for scuba and apnea diving, it also features a sensor guard for added protection.

The quatix 8 also sports a new built-in speaker and microphone, allowing users to issue voice commands to compatible Garmin chartplotters over Bluetooth. The microphone doubles as a remote control for trolling motors and Fusion entertainment systems, enabling phone calls when paired with a smartphone.

Other maritime features include tide tracking, anchor drag alerts, race start guidance, and tack assist. It also offers a built-in LED flashlight, tide change alerts, and anchor drag alarms, making it a formidable marine companion.

For fitness enthusiasts, the quatix 8 doesn't disappoint. Expect the same comprehensive fitness and health tracking you'd get from a flagship Garmin watch. Despite being a niche product, the quatix 8 marks an exciting June for Garmin, with a flurry of releases, major software updates, and a clear commitment to innovation.

The quatix 8 is available now at Garmin US, Garmin UK, and Garmin AU, with prices starting from $1,199.99/ £949.9/ AU$ 2,199.

Note: The quatix 8's marine-specific features include BlueChart map integration, voice control for chartplotters, LED flashlight, and capabilities optimized for navigation and marine operations. It also connects seamlessly with marine electronics and has a battery life suitable for extended marine voyages.
