NHAI Website Introduces New FASTag Annual Pass Banner: Details Regarding Cost, Duration, and More
Starting August 15, 2025, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will roll out the FASTag Annual Pass scheme for private, non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. This scheme offers a convenient pre-paid tolling system for daily highway commuters, although its use remains optional.
To apply for the FASTag Annual Pass, users must activate the pass through the Rajmargyatra mobile application or the official NHAI website by logging in with their registered FASTag credentials (vehicle registration number, FASTag ID, and registered mobile number). Eligibility verification of the vehicle and FASTag will be conducted, followed by a payment of ₹3,000 for the base year 2025-26 via digital payment methods such as UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.
Once payment is confirmed, the annual pass is activated on the user's existing FASTag, typically within two hours. The pass is valid for up to one year or 200 trips, whichever comes first, and is non-transferable, valid only for the vehicle on which the FASTag is affixed. It grants free passage at designated National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas for the duration of its validity.
It is important to note that the FASTag Annual Pass is not mandatory for all users. Existing FASTag users can continue to use their current FASTag for regular toll transactions. The pass is also not applicable on non-National Highway roads, and commercial transporters such as trucks or buses are not eligible for this scheme.

The FASTag Annual Pass does not replace the need for a regular FASTag for non-annual pass users. Additionally, the FASTag cannot be involved in any dispute. Users are not forced to purchase the FASTag Annual Pass, and the pass does not affect the usage of the National Highway network for those who do not opt for it.
