Nio bolsters workforce with 800 new sales personnel as the approach for launching their third-generation ES8 nears

Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced that its third-generation ES8 will officially launch at Nio Day 2025 next month. The event, which is usually held at the end of each year, has been moved to the fall this time around.

The third-generation ES8 is Nio's first mass-produced model and one of its most expensive. Sales talent from all industries are welcome to join Nio and its sub-brand Onvo as the company prepares for the traditional peak sales season in the third and fourth quarters and the launch of the higher-end ES9 SUV next year.

Many professionals with experience at Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus, and Volvo have joined Nio's expanded sales team in the past month. Nio's founder, chairman, and CEO William Li announced that the third-generation ES8 will be unveiled later this month.

The third-generation ES8, a large electric SUV, is said to make its debut on August 20. Showroom models of the SUV will be available at Nio stores on August 21. Yesterday, a photo of the third-generation ES8 was reported by an unspecified publication, further fueling anticipation for the upcoming launch.

The third-generation ES8 features advanced technology, powerful performance, and flexible seating configurations. It comes with a 100 kWh ternary lithium battery pack offering a CLTC range of 635 km. A 120 kWh battery option will be available later, supporting ultra-fast 5C charging at up to 600 kW peak.

The SUV boasts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined peak output of 520 kW (707 hp) and 700 Nm torque, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 3.97 seconds. It uses a 900-volt architecture shared with the flagship Nio ET9.

The third-generation ES8 also features three LiDAR units, 4D imaging radar, multiple cameras, and Nio’s in-house Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip, delivering computing power equivalent to four Nvidia Orin X chips.

The SUV measures 5,280 mm length, 2,010 mm width, 1,800 mm height, with a 3,250 mm wheelbase. Cargo space is 547 liters expandable to 3,230 liters with folded seats, plus a newly introduced 230-liter front trunk ("frunk").

The third-generation ES8 starts at approximately $58,100 including the battery, or about $43,300 via battery-as-a-service leasing. Deliveries are expected to begin around late September 2025.

The third-generation ES8 is positioned as China's largest full-size electric SUV with cutting-edge autonomous capabilities, robust performance, long-range battery options, fast charging and battery swap technology, and a spacious, tech-rich interior.
