Norwegian Project Secures Website Characterisation Task for TGS
TGS, a leading provider of geophysical data and services, has secured another significant contract for offshore wind site characterization in Norway, utilising its proprietary Ultra-High-Resolution 3D (UHR3D) technology.
The contract, which includes acquisition, imaging, and interpretation services, marks a significant step forward for TGS in Northern Europe's growing offshore wind sector. The project will commence with data acquisition onboard the Ramform Vanguard vessel, equipped with TGS's UHR3D streamers and integrated geophysical sensors, in early July.
The UHR3D technology offers several advantages, providing highly accurate and detailed geological data, crucial for the development of offshore wind farms. By enabling the precise characterization of shallow geological targets, developers can make informed decisions about site selection and operation.
This contract further strengthens TGS's position in the region, extending its acquisition campaign in the area and showcasing its competitive geophysical approach. The growing demand for advanced geophysical services in the offshore wind industry is highlighted by this project, as the technology offers a more precise and efficient alternative to traditional methods, meeting the stringent data quality expectations of industry stakeholders.
The success of this project could potentially set a new standard for site characterization and development in the renewable energy sector, promoting further adoption of UHR3D technology in other offshore wind projects globally.
In other news, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has identified four more areas as suitable for future offshore wind development in Norway, indicating a promising future for the industry in the region.
