Nvidia's Debut of a Consumer-Grade Laptop CPU Delayed at Computex 2025

The 2025 edition of the highly-anticipated Computex convention has drawn to a close, but one notable absence marked the event—Nvidia's first-ever consumer-grade laptop CPU. Despite the absence, Nvidia showcased a variety of enticing offerings, including RTX-powered AI avatars and RTX 5060 laptops and desktops.

MSI presented the MS-C931, equipped with the Nvidia GB10 ARM 'superchip', though this technology is intended for AI applications and not everyday use. The anticipated gaming laptop APU had not made an appearance.

An early peek comes from YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead, who highlighted the APU in a recent video. In the video, an engineering sample of the new silicon was showcased, attached to at least eight memory modules. The sample hinted at an AMD Strix Halo-esque configuration with an onboard iGPU and a TDP of 80 to 120 watts.

It appears that Nvidia’s APU will be deployed on an ARM device with a CPU reportedly developed by MediaTek. This integrated architecture is expected to be the future of gaming laptops, judging by its success in the AMD APU-powered Asus ROG Flow Z13. The Asus ROG Flow Z13 demonstrates the potential of the integrated powerhouse, Ryzen AI Max 390, that has replaced dedicated graphics.

These integrated systems are expected to enhance battery efficiency in laptops, which has traditionally been a challenge for gaming laptops. Additionally, the architecture will build toward a stronger handheld gaming experience, as more handheld gaming PCs are expected to adopt this design.

The Nintendo Switch 2, slated for release on June 5, includes a custom Nvidia Tegra chip that has already demonstrated the benefits of DLSS in extracting higher performance from games.

According to Moore's Law's sources, Nvidia's APU is tentatively scheduled for launch either late this year or in early 2026, aligning with earlier rumors suggesting a 2025 release.
