"Orangewood unveils revolutionary step with launch of electric offset baritone guitar"

Layin' Down the Tunes:Orangewood, renowned for crafting stunning acoustic guitars, is diving headfirst into the electric guitar realm, introducing the 27.5" scale Del Sol Baritone – an eye-catching semi-hollow beauty birthed through collaboration with TreeTone Guitars.

From creating sleek, short-scale acoustics with genre-bending guitarist Ruben Wan, to making rubber bridges a more common sight (and stirring up a bit of controversy), Orangewood has consistently churned out impressive builds, making them a brand worth keeping tabs on.

TreeTone Guitars founder Josh Forest, whose builds merge a love for luthiery with a passion for nature, lends his expertise to Orangewood's first electric venture to ensure it's as ear-pleasing as it is eye-catching.

The collaboration blossomed over four to five years, with Orangewood approaching TreeTone for its distinguished offset design, the Del Sol. The teamwork resulted in "a chambered, baritone-scale guitar that marries East Coast refinement with West Coast flair," boasting plenty of impressive qualities.

Unlike TreeTone's high-end Del Sol, priced at over $2,499, the baritone guitar is accessible to many, with two offerings – Pitch Black and Sandstone – at an affordable $695.

Take a gander at its chambered mahogany body, complete with a single f-hole for an optimal balance between weight and resonance. Peering upwards, you'll find a roasted maple neck with a C-profile, a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard, and acrylic white pearl block inlays. The natural-finish headstock bears the logos of both businesses.

A closer look at the hardware reveals vintage-styled Grover Roto-Grip locking tuners, a Tune-O-Matic bridge, and a stop tailpiece. A truss rod spoke wheel adorns the body end for easy adjustments.

For those craving a multitude of tones, the passive P-90 pickups deliver, ranging from clean and smooth to brash and gritty. Conveniently, there's also a mini phase switch to create vintage-style out-of-phase scoop sounds when required.

"We've admired Josh's work for years," says Eddie Park, co-founder of Orangewood. "His one-of-a-kind vision and meticulous attention to detail made him the ideal partner as we ventured into electric guitars. After years of collaboration, prototypes, and shared enthusiasm for character and tone, the Del Sol Baritone signals a significant shift in Orangewood's journey. It's a distinctive, fresh guitar that promises the perfect entry point for those who only know us for our acoustics."

Adding his two cents, Josh Forest, says, "Working on the first prototype together, it was evident that we were onto something truly special. Not only did the guitar resemble a Del Sol I'd built, but it felt and sounded incredible. What excites me most is making my designs available to more players, something I couldn't have achieved on my own."

The Orangewood Del Sol Baritone Electric Guitar is available now for $695.
