Ordering from Temu in Turkey: Essential Information to Consider

In recent times, Turkey has introduced new rules to protect consumer rights and preserve the competitiveness of domestic platforms. One of the key changes concerns international online shopping, particularly on platforms like Temu. Here's a breakdown of the current regulations for shoppers in Turkey.

Firstly, it's essential to note that as of August 2024, Turkey has set a €30 duty-free threshold per order for imported goods. Any order exceeding this amount, including shipping fees, is subject to customs duties. Products imported from non-EU countries, such as China, incur a 60% customs duty, while imports from EU countries are taxed at 30%.

Additionally, a standard VAT of approximately 18% applies on the combined value of goods plus customs duties. It's important to remember that these taxes and duties may vary based on the specific items being imported.

Turkey also imposes limits on individual customers. Each month, customers are allowed a maximum of five international orders, with no more than five units of the same product per order, to prevent commercial-scale imports through personal accounts.

All imported items must meet mandatory safety certifications like the CE mark to avoid being held or denied entry at the border. Non-compliance with import regulations, incorrect value declarations, or product classification errors can lead to delays, fines, or confiscation.

When shopping on Temu, customers can expect to see estimated taxes during the checkout process under the label "tax." The platform has implemented specific order limits for its customers in Turkey, allowing a maximum of five international orders per month and five units of the same product per order.

Delivery times for cross-border purchases typically take between 8 and 25 days, with most items arriving within 14 days. Temu enables direct orders from Turkey, fulfilling deliveries from abroad through local couriers such as DHL e-Commerce, Aras Kargo, Hepsijet, and PTT Kargo.

Temu, a China-based e-commerce platform, has seen significant growth in Turkey. In July 2025, the platform reached 29 million visitors, marking a 300% growth in online reach within a year. The platform's revenue reached $70 billion in 2024, with approximately 292 million monthly active users worldwide.

In a bid to further strengthen its presence in Turkey, Temu is in the process of establishing a local representative office, with registration procedures expected to be finalized by the end of July 2025. The platform's slogan, "Shop like a billionaire," encapsulates its mission to offer affordable luxury to its users.
