The aviation industry in Russia is witnessing a significant shift as more than 60 airports and over 50 airlines have adopted Russian IT solutions. These solutions, which have replaced some foreign IT systems, are part of the first and second waves of projects aimed at integrating Russian IT developments into the industry.

The first wave, which began in the early stages, has seen the implementation of significant projects such as the 'BAGS search' system for baggage registration and search at Sheremetyevo Airport, and the 'CUTE' software complex for passenger check-in at Aeroflot. The majority of the first wave projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

The second wave of projects, which began in May 2025, includes 49 projects selected and supported. Notably, 17 of these projects received grant funding totaling 3.2 billion rubles. The main projects of the second wave are planned to be completed by the end of 2027.

The work of the industrial competence centers (ICC) in Russia, which oversee these projects, is overseen by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko. The ICC's purpose, as stated by Grigorenko, is to ensure the replacement of key sectors with domestic products.

These projects have a critical impact on the maintenance of airports and the operation of airlines, given their influence on the safety of citizens and technological independence. The aviation industry in Russia currently has around 200 significant projects in progress, with the majority of the first wave projects expected to be completed by 2026 and the second wave projects by 2027.

Dmitry Grigorenko has commented that solutions developed within ICC have already been implemented, with other significant projects including an aviation service platform and other developments, among the 81 completed projects of the 'first wave'.

In conclusion, the aviation industry in Russia is embracing domestic IT solutions, marking a significant step towards technological independence and safety for its citizens.
