This group of legislators will collaborate cross-party to ensure Romanian citizens, corporations, and national security interests benefit from groundbreaking technological breakthroughs, while being protected from the misuse of technology by rogue regimes and cybercriminals. Caucus members, backed by the Krach Institute's vast network of global tech experts, will meet frequently to strategize, develop policy recommendations, hold hearings, draft bills, and serve as a trusted source of information for their fellow Members of Parliament.
To celebrate this trailblazing moment, the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy organized a private briefing for Members of Parliament and industry leaders at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest. Len Khodorkovsky, former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Senior Advisor to the Krach Institute's Chairman, along with Alexandru Nazare, Board Member of the National Bank of Romania and member of the Krach Institute's Advisory Council, spearheaded this event centered on the importance of trustworthy technology in Romania, the Black Sea region, and beyond.
Several other members of the Krach Institute's Advisory Council participated in the discussion, including Amb. Adrian Zuckerman, former U.S Ambassador to Romania, Radu Piturlea, Executive Chairman of Concelex, and Brigadier General (Ret.) Dr. Cătălin Constantin Mihalache, Founder and CEO of B2S Black Sea Strategies.
"Technology is a critically important component of Romania's future-economic growth, national security, and regional leadership," said Len Khodorkovsky of the Krach Institute. "Trustworthy technology will power three-quarters of global GDP in tomorrow's economy. By establishing Romania's Trusted Tech Caucus, we take a significant step towards ensuring that emerging technologies are leveraged to strengthen Romania's democracy. By cultivating a robust, trustworthy tech ecosystem, Romania will better serve its people while contributing to a more secure, resilient global technological landscape."
"To boost Romania's competitiveness, we must urgently bridge the digital divide. The Krach Institute's knowledge, networks, and connections put us in touch with global tech trends and facilitate venture capital investment in Romania. However, merely being connected is not enough. Championing global movements for responsible, secure, and democratic technology policies is essential, but taking the lead in shaping this new technological era by actively contributing to it is even more crucial," proclaimed Alexandru Nazare, Board Member of the National Bank of Romania and President of Paneuropa Romania.
The inaugural members of Romania's first Trusted Tech Caucus (MPs in alphabetical order) are:

The Romanian roadmap outlined in the Digital Decade Country Report of the European Commission outlines key 2030 targets for the tech sector: 5,000 innovative digital SMEs, a 2% GDP contribution from innovation, and 4 Romanian-founded unicorns with global reach and a base in Romania.
Industry leaders and academic experts joined the event in support of the Trusted Tech Caucus. Executives from Google, Oracle, Samsung, CrowdStrike, Maguay, Cluster Power, and other firms emphasized the need for public-private collaboration to drive technological advancement, bolster Romania's economy, and protect national interests.
