Polestar 3 2026: Power Boost, Efficiency Gains, and New Trims Unveiled
Polestar has unveiled significant updates for the Polestar 3, set to hit the market for the 2026 model year. The electric SUV receives numerous enhancements, including a substantial power boost and improved efficiency.
The entry-level Rear Motor variant now comes with an optimised battery capacity, while the Dual Motor trim offers optional active air suspension. All variants benefit from a more powerful rear motor, with the performance model achieving up to 500 kW (680 PS) in total power. The front motor now automatically decouples for better efficiency in daily driving. The central computer system also sees an upgrade, increasing processing power from 30 to 254 TOPS.
The 2026 model introduces a new trim structure: Rear Motor, Dual Motor, and Performance. Each trim is distinguished by seat belt design, ranging from one-color black to fully Swedish gold. The 800-volt electric architecture enables faster DC fast charging, up to 350 kW peak power, and a 22-minute charge from 10 to 80 percent. This architecture also improves efficiency by up to six percent and supports new Lithium-ion batteries, offering a range of 593 to 635 kilometers per charge.
The 2026 Polestar 3 will launch at a later date, with local prices announced at the time of sale. In Germany, the starting price is set at 74,590 euros. With these updates, the Polestar 3 promises improved performance, efficiency, and charging capabilities, solidifying its position in the competitive electric SUV market.
