Smarten Up Your Ride: Shymkent's New Electronic Ticketing System

Get ready for a more convenient and efficient ride in Shymkent! Deputy Akim Maksut Isakov announced that the city will be implementing a smart electronic ticketing system starting November 1.

This move aims to bring the passenger transportation business out of the shadows and offer a more streamlined experience for city bus users. With this system, you'll have the option of using a special card to pay just 70 tenge for your trip, or paying 100 tenge if you don't have the card. Several types of cards will be available, including a standard card for everyone, student and school cards, and special cards for passengers in the льготник category, who will ride for free.

Those who prefer not to follow the rules may face a 2 MCI fine. The new electronic ticketing system is designed to save money for frequent users of city buses. For example, within an hour, only one of two trips will be counted. If your card balance runs out suddenly, there are several electronic payment options, including topping up your balance via QIWI wallet or bank apps. QR code payment is also under consideration.

TOO "Qaz smart trans" Director Serjan Akylbayev explains that 1 billion tenge has been allocated for the smart program implementation, with an expected payoff in 5-6 years. Shymkent authorities also plan to change city bus routes in the coming days, operating under the new transport scheme.

Previously, it was reported that free Wi-Fi would be launched in public transport in Almaty. Considering the city's digital advancements and the presence of technology companies in Shymkent, smart ticketing isn't a far-off dream. In fact, cities worldwide are adopting similar systems to improve convenience, enhance security, and promote a more efficient public transportation network.

If you're looking for the absolute latest specifics or official timelines for Shymkent's project, local government or transport authority announcements would be the most reliable sources to consult. Stay tuned for a smarter and more connected ride in Shymkent!

As the city of Shymkent embraces modernization, the implementation of a smart electronic ticketing system aligns with the advancements in technology and public-transit. This new system, aimed at enhancing transportation convenience, will also benefit the finance industry by offering more efficient payment options, such as electronic top-ups via QIWI wallet or bank apps. Moreover, the shift toward a smarter transportation ecosystem, including the potential QR code payment, further integrates data-and-cloud-computing into the passenger transportation business, streamlining operations and fostering industry growth.
