Ransomware Group 'Radiant' Sparks Outrage Targeting Children's Data

A new ransomware group, Radiant, has sparked outrage by posting sensitive data of over 8,000 children, along with their families, from Kido International School. The group threatened to expose more unless a ransom was paid, prompting swift action from law enforcement and other cybercriminals.

Radiant Group, which emerged in late September, targeted Kido International, a school with branches in the UK, US, and India. They claimed to have sensitive information on over 8,000 children, including addresses and parents' names. The group threatened to release more data unless a ransom was paid.

The incident has drawn the attention of London's Metropolitan Police, who are currently investigating the case. Meanwhile, other ransomware groups have stepped in. Karakurt, under pressure from unknown criminals, withdrew from publishing more data. ALPHV is believed to have been involved in this decision. Nova, a well-established ransomware-as-a-service group, publicly criticized Radiant for targeting children.

Following the backlash, Radiant Group removed the posted child data. However, Kido International is still working to confirm the data's deletion. Parents of some children have reported receiving threatening calls after the data was published.

The Radiant Group's actions have raised concerns about their future activities and collaborations with other ransomware groups. While they have removed the posted data, the investigation into the incident continues. Kido International assures it is working to ensure the safety and privacy of its students and their families.
