Recyclable, Easy-to-Peel Lidding Films in Collaboration with Bostik and Bruckner: A Sustainable Solution for Packaging Industry
In a collaborative effort between Bostik and Bruckner, a webinar was held to discuss the latest advancements in recyclable PET peelable lidding films. The event, which is now available on demand, brought together three industry professionals with extensive experience in marketing, R&D, and project management.
Markus Koppers, the Head of Technology Center at Bruckner Maschinenbau, specializes in polymer film development and processing. With over 25 years of experience, Koppers shared insights on the technical performances of monomaterial polyester peelable lidding film. Another key speaker was Claude Granel, the Global Marketing Manager at Bostik, driving sustainable innovation in flexible packaging. Granel, who holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and an MBA from HEC Paris, discussed how Bostik and Bruckner help to enable recyclability of polyester packaging.
Christophe Robert, the Global R&D Leader for Extrudable Solutions at Bostik, also contributed to the discussion. Robert, who holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from École des Mines d'Alès and a Master in Polymers from Université de Bordeaux, presented the companies' collaboration with Evonik, Friedrich August Frey Holding, Greiner Packaging, and Kiefel to develop a full-service solution for manufacturable PET films with removability for thermoformed containers. This collaboration, which began in 2021, aims to meet sustainability goals while enhancing production efficiency.
The webinar also focused on optimizing process efficiencies through a full-service approach. Markus Koppers discussed the process of retrofitting a standard BOPET line, while Christophe Robert shared his expertise in adhesive technologies for flexible packaging, tapes, and labels. The session concluded with a discussion on how monomaterial polyester technology can meet sustainability goals while enhancing production efficiency.
The webinar was tailored for packaging professionals seeking high-performance, recyclable solutions. Attendees gained valuable insights into the latest developments in PET peelable lidding films and the benefits of collaborative efforts in the industry. The event underscored the importance of sustainable innovation and the role of full-service solutions in achieving recyclability and enhancing production efficiency in the packaging industry.
