Release Date, Mythic Skin, and Roadmap for Overwatch 2 Season 18
Get ready, Overwatch 2 players! Season 18 is just around the corner, set to release on Tuesday, August 26th at 11 am PT / 7 pm BST. This new season brings a host of exciting changes and additions to the game.
Firstly, a new mythic skin for the hero Sojourn, titled Ultraviolet Sentinel, will be available. This cybernetic skin features RGB elements and offers various customization options, including different hair styles, armor designs, and color variations. The skin also enhances Sojourn's abilities with visual and sound effects, making for a more immersive gameplay experience. The Ultraviolet Sentinel skin can be unlocked using Mythic Prisms once Season 18 begins.
Sojourn's abilities are also seeing some changes. Her Friction Generators major perk replaces Adhesive Siphon, generating up to 50 energy while sliding. Additionally, her Deceleration Field replaces Extended Mag minor perk, slowing enemies hit by disruptor shot by 25%.
In addition to the new skin and ability changes, Season 18 introduces Draft mode. This new game mode allows teams to pick their heroes for each role one by one, adding a strategic layer to the game.
The new season also sees the arrival of a new hero, Wuyang, who is expected to have a significant impact on the meta. A hero trial for Wuyang, the new support hero, will be available from Thursday, August 14, to Monday, August 18.
Stadium mode is also getting an overhaul in Season 18, with updates including new heroes (Winston, Pharah, Brigitte, Tracer), a new Payload Race game mode (Thames District, Powder Key Mine), new All-Star ranked rewards, Draft mode, Unranked Stadium, and Endorsement functionality extension. However, specific details about the changes in Stadium mode have not been officially revealed yet.
Competitive rank will also be reset in Season 18, giving players a fresh start to climb the ranks.
Finally, the usual bells and whistles that come with a new season, including a new battle pass, events, and shop bundles, will be included in Season 18. So gear up, Overwatch 2 players, and get ready for an exciting new season!
